Agile Automotive Performance

Your performance shop aces of the Mid-Atlantic region.  These guys do everything.  They can tune almost every window's
based engine management system for your vehicle.  Custom fabrication, installation, advice, parts, just about anything you
can think of.  My car has an AccessPort custom tune by Hill McCarty, owner of Agile Automotive and I am nothing but pleased
with the results.  My stock turbo, stock intercooler STi is putting down some serious power.  I also run a custom fabricated
stainless steel downturn from Agile to save weight for those important races.  Give them a call!

I am going to leave this as the original story/write up
because that's how I wrote it.  The tuning work took
place in early 2006

SETUP

"Well, I have long awaited to get my STi tuned in BSP
trim.  This means no changes to the turbo at all.  No
porting, polishing, nothing, just a VF-39.

I have spent the better part of March preparing the car
for the 2006 Solo season and this year I decided to
just crush my credit cards and get it all done at once
instead of trying to work on the car over the summer.
This way I can just work on being a better driver and
make small adjustments like spring rate changes.

Last year I attended the Subaru Challenge in Baltimore
Maryland and ran into Hill McCarty and the Agile
Automotive Performance Staff (Annie, Jeremy, and
Heath) and got a chance to talk to them about getting
tuned for this year.  After talking with them and seeing
how laid back they were it sealed the deal.  As far as
tuning goes I don't think there's anything better than
having the computer tuning done custom for each
individual car.  And in my case I was glad they were
open and willing to help me get ready offering plenty
of advice via email and over the phone for suggestions
on parts and getting ready for tuning.

So...a month or two ago the mass ordering of crap for
the car began.  I had a plan to get the essentials and
stuck to it.  I wanted to have a car that would be
competitive in it's class.  This way if I suck it's
definately my fault, lol.

I set the date and continued to install tid-bit's here
and there and finally made the drive out to MD from
Pittsburgh on Saturday at 4am and got into the shop in
4 hours and 10 minutes, damn google estimations
suck.  I was nearly 2 hours early, lol.  So I sat around
an listened to some tunes, and had another redbull.

Hill and Annie showed up and we got the car into the
shop and attached it to the dynapacks.
After we got the car in, Jeremey and few locals started
showing up to attend a dent removal fest they were
having at the same time.  A local guy comes in with all
kind of fancy equipment and lots of experience.  You'd
be amazed how well he could get out little dents.  We
did the first base run on the dyno only to wonder what
the hell was wrong afterwards.  The only thing I could
think of is that a hour from the shop my cruise control
just stopped working and wouldn't work anymore.  After
listening to the turbo and the engine Hill and Jeremy
though it might be the boost solenoid as they can go
bad.  So we tried a new one and re-flashed the car for
COBB stage 2 base map, turns out they were right, my
stocker had failed!  Glad these guys know what they
are doing.  That would have had me confused!
  :D

Installing a new boost solenoid (Jeremy)
The COBB basemap resulted in something like 280
horsepower and torque :p .  Next we had some
awesome ChickFilet for lunch and began installing
the Helix 860cc injectors.  Well, after a lot of cussing
by me because I was doing the install and a broken
A/C hose we got them in.  Hill had a spare A/C line
in the shop and he had that back in 15 minutes,
maybe less.  We started the car up and Hill began
tuning for idle, steady state, and the fun stuff.  The
car idles great now after driving a while and letting
the computer learn what was up.

Then Hill started working some magic and the first
Pro-Tune run was 331 HP:disco:.  Hill continued to
tweak while Jeremy montored the dyno information.
After a bunch of tweaking and runs the final pump
numbers were 343HP/380TQ on 93 Octane from
Sunoco  .  Well, perfect timing the fuel light
comes on and in goes the C16.

If you didn't know, C16 is leaded and has an
odoriffic smell, luckily there was a breeze but some
of us were more sensistive than others while the car
was warming up.

Jeremy got a little scurred of the C16 fumes that
pleasantly filled the air.
And so began thejourney north  to safety to our place in the sun.
Among us we found a new leader: The man who came from the sky
the Gyro Captain.  And just as Pappagallo had planned we traveled
far beyond the reach of men on machines.  Thejuice, the
preciousjuice, was hidden in the vehicles.  As for me, I grew to
manhood and in the fullness of time, I became the leader the Chief
of the Great Northern Tribe.  And the Road Warrior?  That was the
last we ever saw of him.  He lives now only in my memories.
The results of using the C16 was ~20 more
horsepower and ~25 more torque.  I think the
final numbers were around 360 HP and 404 TQ.
Which was just awesome!  Hill then went out for a
check over things during a few real life road runs.
Thanks Hill and all the staff at AgileAuto for a
great tune and a great experience.  I can't wait to
proudly display AgileAuto on my car this season
and maybe in some local auto shows.

Final impresssions - the car made 2 hours worth
of my trip on C16 down into Richmond VA to visit
friends lots of fun flogging the gas to do some
really fast manuevers in teh passing lane.  When
I switch over to pump I didn't really miss the little
bit of power loss.  I think I will reserve using C16
for the National level events I want to do this
year.  The car was driven 800 miles this weekend!
(oh and the cruise control worked fine on the way
home)  Tons of fun to drive.  On the cushy stock
suspension of a WRX I use for the winter I think I
can feel the diffs working as this thing squats like
a mo-fo now when you get on the gas.  I think
Hill was very happy with the tune.

OMG the powarZ of 404TQ (Hill)
